for Nokia Communicator provides integrated antivirus and firewall
capabilities to provide better and proactive protection against
file-based forms of malicious Symbian threats, such as viruses,
Trojans, worms, and hybrid and blended threats. Real-time
auto-protect and on-demand virus scan capabilities protect files
that are stored on the Communicator file system and remove
undesirable content. A virus threat list provides users a list of
known viruses that are stored in the virus definition file, and the
details and characteristics of each virus. The firewall inspects
all incoming and outgoing packets, and permits or blocks data and
application transmission based on IT-policy defined rules and
settings. It can also detect and block port scanning and includes
rules to allow filtering of these common ports and protocols:
IMAP3, IMAP4, HTTP, HTTPS, POP3, Telnet and SMTP traffic. Symantec
Client Security for Nokia Communicator offers administrators and
users simple and flexible management control. Configurable client
settings can be set by an administrator and pushed over the air in
a configuration file(s) to the mobile device via mobile device
management systems. Setting lock support is provided to prevent the
user from disabling critical security settings. All client security
components (application and content) are updated using LiveUpdate
wireless technology over HTTP connections to a Symantec LiveUpdate
server or a company-hosted server. Administrators can locally or
remotely configure, lock and enforce security policies for Nokia
Communicator devices, and can send SMS messages to the devices to
trigger client applications to perform remote antivirus scan and
