Overview
The RoamAbout AP1002 is a thin access point that contains dual
radios, one for the "a" band, and one for the "b/g" band, providing
ample bandwidth for wireless applications. This model also supports
Power over Ethernet (PoE) and dual internal antennas to simplify
deployment. The RoamAbout AP1002 help to create a unified wireless
network that scales easily from a single switch and a few access
points to a network with more than 100 switches and more than 1,
000 access points. Deployment and management have been simplified.
The RoamAbout AP1002 can be installed anywhere in the network. The
access point will automatically find the wireless switch and
configure itself, whether it is on the same subnet or different
subnet from the wireless switch. The RoamAbout wireless network
supports Enterasys' Secure Networks Acceptable Use Policy, allowing
a single sign-on across both wired and wireless networks to ensure
the same behavior across both, including VLAN membership, Quality
of Service (QoS), and automatically configured filter/ forward
rules. These policies stay with users wherever they roam because
the RoamAbout wireless switches ensure secure and seamless access
to the appropriate information services. The Secure Networks
capability extends to state-of-the-art wireless intrusion detect
ion capabilities. Rogue access points are detected and
automatically located on a floor plan. In addition, countermeasures
can be applied to the rogue to render it unusable and can even
automatically disconnect the rogue from the wired network.
