The Digi PC/X is a non-intelligent multichannel serial communication boards available in 4, 8 and 16-port configurations. The PC/X is compatible with Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) bus systems. The Digi PC/X is ideal for use in small multiuser workgroup systems, multiple point data acquisition, office and factory. Full modem support is provided for every serial port. Terminals, printers, modems, plotters, mice and other asynchronous serial peripherals are all fully supported. Every Digi PC/X board has special interrupt logic to reduce host overhead and improve performance. Each time an interrupt occurs, the host needs only to perform a single I/O read to locate the port that needs service - even if multiple boards are installed. This eliminates the traditional polling of all ports for every interrupt. The result: a substantial decrease in the host CPU overhead and faster serial performance. This serial card is equipped with UART 16450.
