CiscoAironet 1240AG Series
IEEE 802.11a/b/g access points deliver theversatility, high
capacity, security, and enterprise-class featuresdemanded by WLAN
customers. It is designed specifically for challengingRF
environments like factories, warehouses, and large
retailestablishments that require the antenna versatility
associated withconnectorized antennas, a rugged metal enclosure,
and a broad operatingtemperature range. The Cisco Aironet 1240AG
Series provides local aswell as inline power, including support for
IEEE 802.3af Power overEthernet (PoE).
The Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series is a component ofthe Cisco
Unified Wireless Network, a comprehensive solution thatdelivers an
integrated, end-to-end wired and wireless network. Usingthe radio
and network management features of the Cisco Unified
Wirelessnetwork for simplified deployment, the Cisco Aironet 1240AG
Seriesextends the security, scalability, reliability, ease of
deployment, andmanageability available in wired networks to the
wireless LAN.
TheCisco Aironet 1240AG Series offers link role flexibility
providing bothaccess point and bridge function on the same
platform. Link roleflexibility allows the radios to be individually
configured as anaccess point, repeater, root bridge, non-root
bridge, or workgroupbridge, enabling a broad array of
applications.
The CiscoAironet 1240AG Series is available as an autonomous
access point oravailable supporting the Lightweight access Point
Protocol (LWAPP).When configured with LWAPP, the Cisco Aironet
1240AG Series canautomatically detect the best-available Cisco
wireless LAN controllerand download appropriate policies and
configuration information with nohands-on intervention.
With simultaneous support of 802.11a and802.11g standards, the
Cisco Airon et 1240AG Series delivers up to a108-Mbps data rate in
the 5-GHz and 2.4-GHz bands. The series currentlysupports 12
non-overlapping channels (FCC; other regulatory domainssupport
different numbers of 802.11a channels) with potentially up to23
channels via a future firmware release depending on FCC rules.
Otherregulatory domains may support a different number of
channels,simplifying deployments for high-capacity wireless
networks. Forinvestment protection, the Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series
fully supportsthe capabilities of today's dual-band WLAN clients
while providingbackward compatibility with legacy 802.11b
clients.
TheAironet 1240AG IEEE
802.11a/g Non-modular LWAPP Access Point deliversthe versatility,
high capacity, security, and enterpriseclass featuresdemanded by
WLAN customers. These IEEE 802.11a/b/g access point isdesigned
specifically for challenging RF environments such asfactories,
warehouses, and large retail establishments that require theantenna
versatility associated with connectorized antennas, a ruggedmetal
enclosure, and a broad operating temperature range.
TheAironet 1240AG IEEE 802.11a/g Non-modular LWAPP Access Point
works inconjunction with Cisco wireless LAN controllers and the
Cisco WirelessControl System (WCS). It can automatically detect the
best-availableCisco wireless LAN controller and download
appropriate policies andconfiguration information with no manual
intervention. Autonomousaccess points are based on Cisco IOS
Software and may optionallyoperate with the Cisco Works Wireless
LAN Solution Engine (WLSE).
