The HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 1500 cs is a Fibre Channel SAN attached 2U controller shelf that connects to SCSI disk enclosures. This combination provides customers with a low cost, high capacity storage solution. The MSA1500 is perfect for those customers looking for less expensive storage solutions using HP SATA enclosures to store data that doesn't require a high degree of I/O performance and/or is viewed as non-critical to business operations. If the business needs SCSI reliability then attach up-to-four SCSI enclosures for a raw capacity of 8.1 TB (using 56 - 146 GB SCSI disks). Mixing of SATA and SCSI enclosures are not supported behind the same controller at this time. The MSA1500 provides 2 Gb Fibre Channel to the hosts. The enclosure provides Ultra3 SCSI connection to the hard drive enclosures.
