The 3Com Power over Ethernet Multiport Midspan Solution can power up to 24 Network Jacks and IntelliJack products over standard Category 5 or 5e Ethernet cabling. This IEEE 802.3af -compliant inline power source installs right in the switch closet, eliminating an exposed power supply and extra wiring at the workspace. Installing Power over Ethernet helps save time and money because it's less vulnerable to damage or tampering than local power supplies. This Multiport Midspan Solution can be used to power any IEEE 802.3af-compliant devices, particularly 3Com Network Jack and IntelliJack "in the wall switches", compatible NBX telephones, and wireless access points.
